acredito que seja essa a resolução sim. Ele é um LCD 17" (Philips). Eu sempre utilizo uma resolução bem alta. Lembro que recentemen aumentei ainda mais a resolução, mas não lembro pra quanto.

Boas Carlos, arranca normalmente e deixa chegar ao "checking battery state", pressiona as teclas Alt+F5 e deve aparecer o modo texto (se não aparecer, faz o que costumas fazer para obter o modo texto).

Depois tenta este comando:

startx

vê se arranca o modo gráfico.

Se não, tenta este comando:

sudo lightdm start

e vê se o modo gráfico arranca.

Meu Ubuntu é 32.

Não existe o arquivo xorg.conf em /etc/X11. Também não existe nenhuma pasta com esse nome. Encontrei um arquivo xorg.conf.failsafe na pasta /etc/X11.

Não existe o arquivo xorg.conf.d em /usr/share/X11. Existe uma pasta com esse nome contendo os seguintes arquivos:

11-evdev-quirks.conf
11-evdev-trackpoint.conf
50-synaptics.conf
50-vmmouse.conf
