Segundo a Forbes, a gigante Intel começará a fabricação do novo SOC chamado Startix 10 que inclui processadores licenciados pela ARM. A produção será em suas fábricas por meio de sua filial Altera. Com este movimento a Intel entrará diretamente na competição com outros desenvolvedores e integradores de núcleos ARM como Samsung, TSMC ou Global Foundries.
Segundo anúncio da Altera, o novo SOC montará sobre a arquitetura Intel Tri-Gate a 14nm, o qual incorporará um potente processador Quad Core Cortex-A53 de 64bits no sistema, algo que já estão adotando outros fabricantes como Samsung. O sistema também suportará OpenCL.
